The last time we saw Ryan Hurst on The Walking Dead he was playing the role of a character called Negan. The character ended up becoming a beloved character on the show that eventually became the basis for the novel The Irishman. Now he is getting ready to play another famous character in the upcoming second season of The Walking Dead. This time, though, it will be starring in a new film as well.

Hurst has been confirmed to star as Charles “Chick” Hogan in The Irishman, which is currently set to debut on AMC in January. The role has been cast as a love interest for Carol Duvall’s character, Madeleine Rath, and the two characters will apparently be romantically involved in the film. The casting also included Michael Kutsche as Danial Talbot, which is a German who works with the group as a translator and interpreter. In the book, he is a young doctor who falls in love with Madeleine before her death.

Based on the book The Irishman by Thomas M. Polk, The Irishman revolves around a plot to take over the reservation involving the Santa Monica Mountains. The book describes how the original occupants of the place (the Narratives) are threatened by settlers from the West and the Midwest who want to take over what has already become an American territory. The role of the main character, Charles “Chick” Hogan, was recast by Australian actor Haylie Duff. According to the producers, they were looking for a British accent for the part but didn’t have any available British actors at the moment, so they needed somebody from the new American accent of Australian. That is when they got actor/actress Kayne Tesoro-Parks.

The second season of this drama was less successful, but still managed to earn some ratings. In the third season, the writers decided to make it more similar to the soap opera format and wrote some episodes that focused more on story and romance. Their efforts seem to pay off as the show became one of the most popular dramas on television among teens and adults.
